Former Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Dr. Arabinda Nath Basu, was the founder of Shri Ritam Vidyapith. He was supported in this noble work by prominent personalities like Dr. Sushil Kumar Mukhopadhyay, former Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University, Dr. Triguna Sen, former Union Minister and former Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Dr. Manoranjan Basu, former Professor of Jadavpur University and other eminent personalities. Dr. Arabinda Nath Basu not only provided the land for the establishment of the Shri Ritam Vidyapith, but also arranged the necessary funds for the construction of the Vidyapith building. Another illustrious personality of Shri Ritam Vidyapith was Professor Ganadeb Bhattacharya. Prof. Bhattacharya gave a new direction to the Vidyapith by gradually trying to raise the institution to secondary level and higher secondary level after getting government approval. Today’s Shri Ritam Vidyapith is the collective effort of the above mentioned memorable and beloved personalities.
